I am not a little raincloud!” Doth protest Magyera.

Harmony Sea Kittens (3-1) trot back onto Olbrich Park diamond #3 at 6:30 PM tonight having had three weeks to lick wounds after its unfortunate 11-10 loss to Bat Intentions June 5.   Monona Mashers (1-3) line up on the other side tonight, looking to avenge an earlier 13-8 loss to Los Gatitos, a tight game broken open by Man-Aaron Jossart’s fourth-inning grand slam.  Joe Hennessy (1-0) takes the mound for just the second time this season, but the chucker has been getting in work with Bottomfeeders on Monday nights, and has pitched effectively in recent weeks for the Feeders.

Sea Kittens encountered drama during its three-week rainout-induced layoff, as a grand jury considered rainmaking charges levied against Kyle “Boom Boom” Magyera, but ultimately did not indict the 10-year veteran.

Suspicion around Magyera grew when his third planned Sea Kitten absence coincided with the third Sea Kitten rainout of 2019, and his knowledge of ground and surface water hydrology fueled the speculation that he’d been engaging in a rain-making operation to protect his self-interests.  “We were disappointed with the grand jury’s decision and may consider bringing charges in the future if the pattern continues,” prosecutors said.   ‘Magyera certainly isn’t the first person to actively try to bring a Sea Kitten rainout during a week of a planned absence, but we felt the frequency and boldness of his actions in the past two months crossed a line.  Apparently, the grand jury did not see the evidence in the same light.”
