Cats and Bats Set to Tussle

The diamonds dried out beautifully after last night’s rain, and Harmony Sea Kittens (3-0) square off with Bat Intentions (0-3) at Olbrich Park tonight- first pitch 6:30 PM, Field #4.  A Sea Kitten win would clinch at least a share of the Kenosha League first-half title; if Silver Eagle tops Pitches B Trippin’, later tonight, the Cats will secure back-to-back championship game berths for the first time in franchise history.

Harmony will play without some of its vaunted chemistry, as both Boo Rabbit Bradley and Schultzy Oele will be absent. Man-Aaron Jossart hit the scouting trail and signed free-agent infielder Zoe Slattery for the game to complete the Cats’ starting 10. Slattery will become the 76th player to don the tuxedo for Harmony in MSCR play.

All seven rostered men will be present; consequentially two will have to share a spot- the Cats’ first unbalanced roster since June 7, 2017. Slugging shortstop Dan DynamOele has volunteered for one of those two slots and will bat leadoff for the first time in his 81-game Sea Kitten career; as the last two players to draw short straws, Sweet Thing Harkins and Zen Master Rowe have been granted immunity. The remainder of the lineup and will be determined when pre-game straws are drawn to identify the second half-time player. Rumor is that manager Joe Hennessy has devised an elaborate re-sampling technique to eliminate the advantage of drawing the first straw. The remainder of the squad has taken a solemn oath to spin the lineup more than three times so the second substitute gets at least two at-bats.
