Cats Head to 2025 Finale

Second-seeded Sea Kittens (4-1-1) host 3rd-seeded Hot Pitches (5-1-1) in a Thursday Night Madison Sport & Social Club semifinal game at Bowman Park Thursday, October 16.  The penultimate game of the Penn league season pits the familiar rivals who battled to a thrilling, if inconclusive, 13-13 tie in the season opener August 28.  That contest featured six lead changes in six innings before Man-Aaron Jossart drove home the final equalizer with two out in the game’s final frame.  This time, no such stalemate will suffice!

While the Cats have an all-time 11-0-1 record against the Pitches, that lone tie was the most recent game between the two teams and is representative of where they stand in relation to each other this Fall season.  Sea Kittens needed at least 4 noteworthy defensive plays in that August match to escape with a tie.  Boasting a mix of speed and athleticism- as well as a decided youth advantage- Hot Pitches would the sexy pick for the upset if anyone were reckless enough to make a wager on the outcome of a low-level rec softball game.  Meanwhile Sea Kittens will be bringing their experience and battle-tested savvy, while manager Joe Hennessy will have the task of writing a 14-batter lineup that will ideally keep pressure on the Pitches’ defense inning after inning.

The winner of this highly-anticipated game will get one last crack at Da Hittas- 7-0-0 in this Fall Season, 3-time defending league champions,  and 34-4 over their past 38 games… but two of those losses came at the hands of Hot Pitches, and one at the hands of Sea Kittens-  could Thursday night be the stage for a year-ending upset?  Come on out to the park to find out!
