Recap
The Kittens dug another hole at the beginning of game 2, slipping behind 6-1 after 2 innings, but an inside-the park HR by Tom “Tumbleweed” Cichosz- capped by a bloody, head-banging collision at the plate- ignited the Kits. The homer started a 5-run rally in the third, capped by Dan “The Hit Machine” Kennedy’s second double in as many at-bats. Kennedy finished the night 5-5 with a walk, 4 runs scored, and 2 RBI in the two games. But the Jackalopes weren’t done, and added to their lead, stretching it to 10-7. The Kittens plated a pair in the top of the 5th to make it a 1-run game, and Jon Hansen’s one-out 2-run inside-the-park homer in the top of the 6th gave the Kittens the lead. The Jackalopes battled in the final half of the final frame, but Tom Tumbleweed rolled goose eggs in the final 2 of his 3 innings pitched, inducing a bases-loaded swinging strikeout of the J-Lopes’ top hitter with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th to end the game.
