Recap
A day after rapping 21 hits in a 12-8 Harmony Tournament loss, the Harmony Sea Kittens (0-1 in Fall Winnebago League play) could muster only 4 while suffering the ignominy of their first-ever shutout loss last night at Olbrich Park. The pitcher for Wilson’s (1-0) had the Cats’ bats flailing helplessly, allowing only 7 balls to leave the infield in 7 well-pitched innings. And while the Kittens played admirable defense, Wilson’s managed to punch through enough for an efficient (42 minutes) 5-0 victory.
Despite the low offensive output, the Kittens were not without their chances, having runners in scoring position with fewer than 2 out in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th innings, but went 0-7 in those tries. Pitcher Tom Cichosz settled into a groove as the game progressed and did all he could with the bat, going 2-3 with a single and triple, but the three-through-seven spots in the order went 0-13 on what was otherwise an idyllic night for softball.
