Recap
June 9, 2010
The game recap as sent to players June 10, 2010. Joe, Tom & Jon missed the game for the annual Partner’s Fishing Event- ’twas the last time we skipped softball for that event. In the stead came substitutes Man-Aaron Jossart and Detroit Josh Ghena, who later signed with the Cats and went on to have storied careers.
Congrats on the win, Kittens- the rain is the only thing that’s stopped us yet!
A brief rundown of a game I didn’t see, but wish I had:
The Kits hung a 10-spot in the first inning, essentially ending the game before it started… The bases were almost constantly loaded thanks to four walks and six singles, before Erin capped the rally with a bases-clearing double. Lombardino’s settled down after the first and chipped at the lead, but Erin and Nick pitched admirably in their respective pitching debuts. As Claire mentioned, a two-out fourth inning rally comprising four straight doubles (Kiersten, Kyle, Beth, Josh) scored three insurance runs, and Josh and Kiersten put an exclamation point on the game in the 6th, as Josh launched a rocket from CF that Kiersten scooped at the plate to nab a Lombardino’s runner.
Next week: 7 PM, Olbrich 1 vs. Spending Cheese- it’ll be a tough one!
SALMON SNACKS
Well, Josh Ghena and Aaron Jossart would’ve earned snacks just for being available to play, but both came to PLAY!
Aaron Jossart, 2 walks, 2 runs scored
Josh Ghena, 3-3, double, run scored, 3 RBI, and the aforementioned outfield assist
Kyle Magyera (after waiting 5 weeks to make his debut), 3-3, double, 2 runs, 2 RBI
Beth Monaco (another debut) 1-2, walk, double, 2 runs, 2 RBI and a solid game at 1B
Nick Legler, pitching 3+ innings for the save
