Harmony Sea Kittens (4-1) vs. Mickey’s Bomb Squad (4-1)
July 11, 2018 @ 8:30 PM
Olbrich Park, Field 3
Wednesday Night’s marquee MSCR Monroe League matchup features the league’s last two 1-loss teams and promises to be a thrilling and entertaining ballgame. Sea Kittens are enjoying a modest two-game winning streak, while Mickey’s has yet to lose a game on the diamond in 2018- the one blemish in their record coming as a forfeit loss to Sea Kittens. The league-leading Kitten offense- averaging 13.5 runs/ game- will find a stout test against the lockdown Mickey’s defense, which has allowed a scant 6 runs/ game in the four it’s played. Meanwhile, Mickey’s #2 offense and the Cats’ #2 defense are no slouches.
The heat of summer has been favorable for Los Gatitos, who are 14-11 all-time in the month of July- the team’s best calendar month statistically. Recently the month has been even more favorable and the Cats have won 5 consecutive July contests, and are 7-1 in the month since ending The Schneid July 20, 2014.
With ace starting pitcher Zen Master Rowe headed to the disabled list, Sea Kittens will send Joe Hennessy to the mound. Hennessy suffered the Cats’ only loss in his only start this season, allowing nine runs in six innings against Swingin’ Eagles, but the Cats’ #2 starter was on the hill for 11 wins in 17 starts in 2016 & 2017.
Did you know?
While players sometimes feel they’re dragging for 8:30 PM games, since 2016 Sea Kittens are 9-4 in games starting 8:15 PM or later, consistent with the team’s 25-10 overall MSCR record in that stretch.
