Owatonna, MN St. Mary’s Catholic School… Saints Favorite foods: Chocolate.  And paneer masala. And raspberries… Favorite animal: Specifically, Wrangler my dog.  Favorite species:  Bumble Bees or short-horned lizards. Patronus:  Sloth. I think you can guess why. Spotted wandering down Lake Point Drive with some regularity and sized up as a potential ball-player, Flash made a splash after signing with Sea Kittens in August 2017.   Less than 6 months after delivering a bouncing baby girl, Brenna jumped into action for a 3-game Harmony Tournament appearance on a blazing August Sunday, ripping a hit in her first Cat at-bat and reaching base four times in the tourney.  The experience crippled her for the remainder of the calendar year, but reunited the life-long player with the game she loves.  That ringing single to left in her first AB is presently her favorite Sea Kitten memory.
“Rust. Pishaw,”
is all she had to say about that. Marsicek joined the team full-time for the Fall 2017 season and compiled a 0.412 batting average, the third-highest first-season batting average recorded by a Sea Kitten woman (trailing only Stephanie Jolitz’s 0.579 in Fall 2010, her only season with the team).  Her running dazzled teammates, but opponents have learned to respect the wheels in summer 2018 play- decidedly quicker when they’re more than 5 months post-partum.  She suited up with Bottomfeeders for Summer League 2018 and subbed with Sea Kittens when needed, and rejoins the Cats full-time in Fall 2018. Alternating between playing her natural position at first base and third, Marsicek also found success at the hot corner and avoided being caught off guard by any mean tooth-loosening hoppers.  Perhaps more dangerous were runners not running through the safety base at first- her biggest annoyance on the diamond.  THAT’S WHY THERE ARE TWO BASES! The laser-like focus on defense is a far cry from her earliest softball/baseball/wiffle ball memory, which was playing outfield in 4-H softball as a 6 year old.  Her friend Hannah (also playing outfield) and she were bored so alternated between picking dandelions and doing cartwheels. Coach wasn’t amused.  Perhaps the shift to the infield dirt removed flowers and bumblebees from the list of potential distractions. Favorite athlete: Warren Moon. “He was the reason Jeremiah found out I was just faking being a Vikings fan to push his buttons when we first started dating. Fond memories.”
