33 Heidibadger Nelson

Heidibadger joined Sea Kittens in 2011 and quickly personified Esprit des Chatons, while also not giving a shit.

Unnerving Heidibadger Nelson
Heidibadger joined Sea Kittens with little experience but demonstrated an aptitude for the game, as well as a distinct lack of depth-perception for fly balls in the outfield.  Five years into her Sea Kitten career she revealed switch-hitting skills, and now hits for higher average from the Brooklyn Side.  The Badger made her Sea Kitten debut May 18, 2011, hugging the kitten and throwing the grenade.  Her tenacity on the diamond was quickly revealed, as well as a propensity for regularly rolling in the dirt. Her skills with the bat developed quickly, and by 2015 she posted a 0.438 batting average and 0.514 on-base percentage, and her 14 hits and 11 run scored that year both still rest at #2 on the all-time list for SK women. Heidibadger is one of only three Sea Kitten women to collect more than 10 hits and score more than 10 runs in a single summer season. Nelson is #4 on the Kitten’s all-time games played list, and played in 31 consecutive summer league games between 2012-2016, the second-longest streak in team history.  She is the team’s all-time summer league leader in bases on balls and quickly approaching the all-time franchise record, and is one of only 3 Kittens who have walked thrice in a game, having accomplished that feat three times.  She’s also one of only five Sea Kitten women to notch 4 hits in a single game The Heidibadger’s earliest softball/baseball memory was watching her team play from the bench in a cast for 3 straight seasons of little league baseball (“coach-pitch”).
“I broke my arm right after the first game in year 1, and then had subsequent surgeries scheduled during summer breaks right when games were starting back up. But since I’d gone to all the practices and signed up, my mom and coach wanted to make sure I knew I was still “Part of the Team.” A broken, bored, sad part of the team.”
A few of the Heidibadger’s favorite Sea Kittens moments: Personal: being picked up carried off in a bear hug by Chief’s (female) runner who didn’t have time to stop. Overall: it’s a tie between Tom Cichosz climbing the fence and roaring after…home run, just running from third? I can’t remember why; and Jonny Jon Jon’s sleep deprived double header right after Ada was born. Most annoying thing on the softball diamond: getting mid-game pointers / reminders; slightly more frustrating than ass-grabbing and getting hit in the f*^$$g head. Did you know?  Heidibadger and Boomer Boehm are responsible for the creation of Seamour Sea Kitten!
