Schultzy was recruited for Sea kittens by Dan Dynam-Oele for the Fall, 2014 season. Originally nicknamed “Jess,” in reference to her birth certificate, the athletic former volleyball star adjusted quickly to catching a small hard ball rather than attempting to swat it away defensively. Or at least swatted it away with no more frequency than most Sea Kittens. From the get-go she preferred hitting it with a stick and took to that element of the game naturally and her lifetime 0.420 batting average is #2 on the all-time list among Sea Kitten women, and she is one of only three Sea Kitten women to amass more than five extra-base hits in her career.

Committed to minor-league player development in 2021-22, Schultzy has been keeping he skill set fresh with regular substitute appearances.

While she spent years away from the game playing volleyball, Schultzy was an early participant and reminisces about playing t-ball in the backyard with neighbor kids and whacking her little brother in the head with the bat as she ran to first base (aka the biggest tree in the yard). Luckily the bat was plastic.
