Man-Aaron Jossart debuted with Los Gatitos del Mar June 9, 2010 as a sub in the team’s second-ever game. He walked twice and struck out twice in a demonstration of true-outcome softball. Jossart was a regular presence on the bench that summer, keeping score, cheering for the Cats, and hanging around KC “Sunshine” Curtis because he *like-liked* her.
He joined the Cats full-time for the Summer 2011 season and tied for a team-high eight runs scored. He knocked in 11 runs for the 2012 Summer league champions and turned in a big game in the final. A versatile and athletic defender, Jossart has moved between SS, 3B. P and OF throughout his career.
Jossart was memorably part of the Ding-dong Game– in which he and Alex Puma Latzka each rung a ball off a foul pole, June 2, 2021.
A Renaissance gent, Jossart also penned “Out at Third,” memorializing the game of the same name- the Sea Kittens’ 2013 season opener. To wit- with nobody out in the bottom of the 7th in an 8-8 game, Tommy Tom Tom Seahorse Shabidu Cichosz, Jr. corrected a call at third base, overruling the umpire and declaring himself out to complete a rally-killing double-play. Jonny Jon Jon Shabidu Hansen, Jr. followed with a double. Balls & Dolls rewarded the Sea Kittens’ integrity with an 11-run 8th inning.
“Out at Third”
Tis a soul that withers when men lie, when men cheat. Is it a price that is worth the length of a cleat? The question confronted last night on the field, was this: for victory, to what will we yield? Eleven reasons, you say, should our devil we abide. But verily do you wish to be the one so tried? Tom, in the moment, chose his angel to heed, And for this we did not take the lead. But in this moment, forth his victory shone, So he could walk head high, instead of scuttling home. Tom, your morals, your honesty we applaud, And Sea Kittens, our fun, our comedy, we laud, To softball! The true test of our character and wit, Victory, Pah! It’s just a way to stay fit!
“When running the bases, I have to repeat ‘rec softball’ in my head. If I don’t, I normally pull something.” -Man-Aaron Jossart
