C-H-E-R-O-K-E-E, Cherokee- it’s the place to be!

Come on, everybody- just follow me!

Schools are cool, but Cherokee’s great

Come on, everybody, come be my schoolmate!

A lifelong softballer, Salm debuted with Sea Kittens in Spring 2025- a recommendation of noted scout Kendra “All Day” Haight.  The sure-handed infielder quickly embraced la joie des chatons and brought spark to both the Sea Kittens’ lineup and sidelines.  And doubled home two runs in her first at-bat, which was also cool.

Before each at-bat, The Slammin’ Salm-on swings the bat back toward the catcher, hits it with her hand twice, and *presto* it’s magic.

Salm vividly remembers “making” her first softball team, as a five year old.  “My parents signed me up for “tryouts” (I think everyone made it), and I had no clue what I was doing, but was filled with joy when they told me I got to do it again twice a week for the whole summer.”  That experience ultimately led her to the Strong Complex Softball Field at Beloit College, and her collegiate experience with the Buccaneers became her springboard to the competition in the illustrious Madison Sport and Social Club and ultimately to her life contract with the Kittens.

“The best thing about rec softball is getting connected to and spending time with so many people in the Madison Area- I’ve met all of my favorite Madisonians through softball.”
