Sea Kittens Roar into Game of the Year

After starting the 2019 Summer Season with three consecutive wins, Harmony Sea Kittens endured a June swoon that continued into early July. last week the Cats bounced back with their first win since May 29, and take a 4-3 overall record into an 8:30 PM matchup with rivals Pitches B Trippin.

The game is a make-up of the teams’ postponed season opener, and thus is a continuation of MSCR Kenosha League first-half play. A win for the Harmony Ten would move the squad to 4-1 in the first half and secure a slot in the Kenosha League Championship game, while a loss would deliver the first-half title to Silver Eagle.

Sea Kittens have faced Pitches B Trippin twice previously, and have been unable to solve the riddle of Stephen Grutzik’s squad. PBT topped Los Gatitos 7-6 in the 2017 Fall Championship, denying the Cats a perfect season, and just two weeks ago delivered one of the worst beatings Sea kittens have ever endured, a 23-7 thrashing that saw PBT go on a 17-1 roll after the game’s second inning. Still, Sea Kitten manager Joe Hennessy believes the squads are evenly matched and that the Cats have a legit chance to win tonight. Others aren’t sure why he thinks that.

Hennessy will take the ball as the Cats’ starting pitcher tonight, despite being vulnerable to the long ball in last week’s win over Bat Intentions. The start is believed to position the Cats better defensively while giving PBT a different look than they faced in the July 10 game. Hennessy also tinkered with Sea Kittens’ lineup formula, batting slugger Dan DynamOele in the leadoff spot for the second time this season and dropping the reliable leadoff hitter Zen Master Rowe to the bottom slot as a “second lead” to get runners on base for Oele when the lineup turns.
